The University of Virginia’s Miller Center of Public Affairs today will introduce a report detailing practical ways to invest in transportation infrastructure.
Miller Center Director and former Virginia Gov. Gerald Baliles and former U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta will present the report in Washington at 3 p.m. at the Rayburn House office building.
The report is based on the Miller Center’s David R. Goode National Transportation Policy Conference. At the November conference, more than 60 transportation experts discussed ways to draw attention to the nation’s transportation challenges, according to the center.
Following their remarks, there will be a panel discussion on how raising public awareness about infrastructure investments can affect changes in policymaking.
Panelists will include Jeff Shane, former undersecretary for policy with the U.S. Transportation Department; Marcia Hale, director, Building America’s Future Education Fund; Emil Frankel, director of transportation studies, Bipartisan Policy Center; and James Corless, director of Transportation for America.
The report, “Are We There Yet? Selling America on Transportation,” will be available on the Miller Center’s website, millercenter.org, after the news conference.
