KSR College » Blog Archive » Happy birthday, Darius Miller!

The home state hero and Mason County product Darius Miller is celebrating a birthday today. Darius is turning 22 years young on the eve-eve of a rematch with Indiana in the Sweet 16. Darius Miller has become one of the most endearing Wildcats of our time, partially due to all of the different things he has gone through in his time since arriving on campus. Miller was a Billy Gillispie recruit, who was relied upon even as a freshman. He struggled at times with confidence in his time with Billy Gillispie, but when John Calipari came in, you began to see signs of shedding the lack of confidence. Miller has been the “glue guy” for all of John Calipari’s Kentucky teams. With super star future NBA talent such as John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Brandon Knight, Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (to name a few) surrounding him, he has consistently found a way to have a critical role on each of the teams he has played on while at the University of Kentucky. From his teammates’ words about him in press conferences, and now via birthday wishes on Twitter, it’s clear to see that he is more than just a clutch player when the game is on the line. He is a good teammate to them and you can tell in the way they hold him in such high regard.

In his final season as a Wildcat, Darius Miller has been at his most impressive. Miller has stepped up as the leader on the team, especially in moments of dire need. When Kentucky needs a big basket to stop the bleeding of an opponent’s run, the ball goes to Darius. The look in his eye as of late has almost been scary. He is in the zone and doesn’t seem ready to let his senior season end anytime soon.

Thank you for 4 great years so far Darius. All we need now is 4 more games. Happy birthday from the Big Blue Nation!
